Delwyn Ogilvy

From the age of 10 years old when Del was riding around the farm bareback on the old stock horse. She knew she had a dream to compete at International level and represent her country.

After winning the PCAV State Championships in 1977 Del was bitten by the eventing bug and from then on set about achieving her dream. With the talent and ability to train all her own mounts it was noted that Del could “train a clothes horse and still win” by the local papers.

Riding ‘Beta’ to Advanced level and on “Beta” she won the coveted Gawler 3 day Event and in 1990 was named “Event Rider of the Year”. In 1992 Del set off with Beta to England where she was ranked in Great Britain’s top 30 Event riders. She was named first reserve rider for the Gold Medal Australian Eventing Team at the Barcelona Olympics, only just falling short of her dream when Beta was unable to compete at a key selection event due to injury.

Having now formed a new partnership with her Beautiful Warmblood mare ‘Precious Dreams’, aka Serena, and training her through the levels with expertise Del has just stepped Precious Dream up to 2*, placing 3rd in their first CIC2* and then 4th at Wallaby Hill CCI2*3DE at the end of 2018. Continuing on her journey with Serena Del is looking forward to an exciting 2019!

An inspiration to many up and coming riders Del is a professional EA Level 2 Eventing Specialist riding coach and horse trainer and runs her business Delwyn Ogilvy Equestrian at Tynong North. She continues to work hard and excel in her dreams.
Excited to be coming on board as a Jin Stirrup sponsored rider and grateful for the opportunity. When trying the Jin Stirrup products Del was “astounded by the superior safety and engineering of the helmets which are so comfortable and stylish to wear whilst being the safest helmet on the market”. The stirrups are extremely comfortable and Del “was particularly impressed with wider stirrup tread which alleviates any foot pain associated with longer periods in the saddle”.
Welcome to the Jin Stirrup team Del. Great to have you on board.
